Remote (Online) Identity Verification with phiCert ID Verify
An Organizational Representative can request that an invitation link be sent via email for a designated individual representative of an organization applying for an account with EMR Direct (usually this is the application signer) to use the EMR Direct website to complete identity verification online. Some application forms also include a place the application signer can indicate their email address and convey this request directly. The invitation is generated and emailed once an application has been submitted to EMR Direct, the organization name has been registered on the EMR Direct administrative site by the Organizational Representative, and the organization name and address have been verified.
Please note that each remote identity verification invitation is prepared in the context of an application signer's or other representative's name, organization, and the email address where the invitation is to be sent (their own email address or that of the Organizational Representative who will forward the invitation to them). To be successfully verified, an active PayPal account in the legal name of the person whose identity is being verified is also required. The invitation is good for seven days.
How Remote Proofing Works
At the moment the subject signs in to PayPal from the phiCert ID Verify site by clicking on the invitation link, a verification code is sent to the primary email address registered to their PayPal account. The ID Verify site then asks for this code that was just emailed, along with other identity information that is specific to the individual being verified, including their personal home address.
If the verification code is not received, check the spam folder or confirm the primary PayPal email address via the PayPal website. The verification code is good for ten minutes, so the process will need to be re-started from the invitation link if it expires or if the primary PayPal email address is modified, requiring the verification code to be re-sent to that address.
If Remote Identity Verification is unsuccessful, EMR Direct will notify the Organizational Representative and a notarized form can be submitted by US mail to EMR Direct; if the form will be sent by UPS or FedEx, then the following street address should be used instead:
