Direct Trusted Agent accreditation affirms adherence to data processing standards and compliance with security, privacy, and trusted identity requirements
SAN DIEGO, Calif., February 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- EMR Direct, a leading developer of software for secure health information exchange and provider of Direct Messaging, HL7 FHIR, and Identity Services, has received full re-accreditation from DirectTrust and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission under the Health Information Service Provider-Privacy & Security, Registration Authority, and Certification Authority programs.
EMR Direct's platform makes it easy for developers to add Direct Messaging or HL7 FHIR services into their products, enabling more effective use of health information across the care continuum, while meeting industry requirements for privacy and security, without special effort by customers or pairwise legal agreements. "Re-accreditation affirms that our products and use cases will continue to translate into affordable, broad interoperability for our customers, securing transactions at scale and improving care delivery," said Julie Maas, CEO of EMR Direct.
EMR Direct's practices were found to be fully in compliance with HIPAA regulations, industry standards, and the Direct Project requirements. EHNAC's comprehensive independent review evaluated privacy, security and confidentiality; technical performance; business practices; and organizational resources as related to Directed exchange participants. In addition, EHNAC reviewed EMR Direct's processes of managing and transferring Protected Health Information and determined that the organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards.
"With the undeniable need in the healthcare marketplace for guidance and accountability on the secure and interoperable exchange of PHI, we congratulate EMR Direct who has established and upheld a superior level of trust for their stakeholders by achieving the highest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality," said EHNAC Executive Director Lee Barrett.
EMR Direct first received DirectTrust-EHNAC accreditation in 2014 during the first year of these programs. The company also achieved full HISP accreditation earlier this year under DirectTrust's newest accreditation program. Today, the Accredited DirectTrust Network reaches over 1.5 million healthcare endpoints across the nation, and continues to grow.
